Seating: 1728, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Nicu Bărăian kicked off to start the match. Iulian Lopatnicu struck a weak shot in the 3rd minute. Valer Manea didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pui AS. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ulies's goalkeeper Valer Manea, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Nicu Bărăian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 15 minutes into the match, Ulies's Cornel Hăvârneanu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gică Chevereșan narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iulian Lopatnicu in the 17th minute of play forced Ulies's goalkeeper Valer Manea to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 21 minutes, Nicu Bărăian managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pui AS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicu Bărăian was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Pui AS's zone, Cornel Hăvârneanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gică Chevereșan came out of the goal and Cornel Hăvârneanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Ulies's Alexandru Giurgiu got a free kick in the 29th minute. When Iulian Lopatnicu came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Pui AS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Iulian Lopatnicu couldn't finish the play. Valer Manea showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicu Bărăian, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Nicu Bărăian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41st match minute, Ulies was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandru Giurgiu to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cornel Hăvârneanu was the one to do the kick off. Gică Chevereșan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristi Isăilă in the 55th minute of play. Nicu Bărăian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 83rd minute, Iulian Lopatnicu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Iulian Lopatnicu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Valer Manea having to make a save.
