In the 20thth minute of the game Aurel Popeneciu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cuiungiuc's Mugur Bivolaru was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 69th match minute, CSA Steaua Bucuresti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iacob Mateescu to maneuver through the defense. Ionel Ştirbu's late challenge caught a CSA Steaua Bucuresti's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
