Manchester United's Mihnea Piţurcă suffered a fractured collar bone after 37 minutes and couldn't finish the game. 37 minutes into the game, Costel Caramitru was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Timoni AC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Manchester United the free kick.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gavril Radu to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Sorin Greculescu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. David Petran was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 54 minutes, Eusebiu Anastasiu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Manchester United and the Timoni AC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Eusebiu Anastasiu kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. Timoni AC were awarded a corner in the 57th minute after Manchester United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Florin Isăceanu took the corner. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Sorin Greculescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Timoni AC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sorin Greculescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Petran breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Manchester United's David Petran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sorin Greculescu in the 63rd minute of play. If Sorin Greculescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 67th minute, Florin Isăceanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 68th minute of the match Eusebiu Anastasiu shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dinu Isăcescu showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Timoni AC's supporters rose to their feet, but Costel Caramitru was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. David Petran breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Timoni AC's Dragoş Ionescu got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 83 minutes into the match, Manchester United's goal looked a bit too open when Sorin Greculescu came free, but David Petran reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Manchester United supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Timoni AC's performance. The match ended with a win for Timoni AC.
