Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Remus Marghescu started the match with the kick off. Nechifor Dabija's late challenge caught a Blaju FCM's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nechifor Dabija helped the player get up and apologised. The referee gave Blaju FCM a penalty, 6 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Nicu Tănăsescu, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of FCU Stiinta Craiova's Rareș Iosifian. 0-1. Rareș Iosifian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Remus Marghescu in the 16th minute of play. Eugeniusz Dlugi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Rareș Iosifian tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 23 played minutes Blaju FCM got a freekick which was hit by Aristide Comănescu. 25 minutes into the match, Blaju FCM's goal looked a bit too open when Aurel Aluneanu came free, but Petru Plopeanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Blaju FCM's Petru Plopeanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Blaju FCM from getting a goal against them. Rareș Iosifian took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Remus Marghescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Răzvan Rădvan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Petru Plopeanu made a huge save. Rareș Iosifian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicu Tănăsescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aurel Aluneanu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Petru Plopeanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Răzvan Rădvan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 54 minutes into the game, Aurel Aluneanu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Petru Plopeanu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Marcu Eniceicu hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. With a little luck, FCU Stiinta Craiova's Rareș Iosifian got control of the ball when Eugeniusz Dlugi tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 62 minutes, Horaţiu Şuţu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FCU Stiinta Craiova and the Blaju FCM players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to FCU Stiinta Craiova getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Horaţiu Şuţu hit a great ball. 65 minutes into the match, FCU Stiinta Craiova's goal looked a bit too open when Remus Marghescu came free, but Rareș Iosifian reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Nicu Tănăsescu fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Blaju FCM's protests and gave Nicu Tănăsescu a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of FCU Stiinta Craiova booed when Blaju FCM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicu Tănăsescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, FCU Stiinta Craiova's Rareș Iosifian got control of the ball when Luca Bologa tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 72nd match minute, FCU Stiinta Craiova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nechifor Dabija to maneuver through the defense. In the 74th minute Răzvan Rădvan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Petru Plopeanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Petru Plopeanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Răzvan Rădvan in the 76th minute of the match. Rareș Iosifian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Remus Marghescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. FCU Stiinta Craiova's Rareș Iosifian played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Remus Marghescu in the 92nd minute of play. In the 95th minute of the match Blaju FCM got a corner. FCU Stiinta Craiova's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nicu Tănăsescu ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Blaju FCM's Nicu Tănăsescu to fire away a dangerous shot which Rareș Iosifian despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. FCU Stiinta Craiova's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
