The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Traian Mihoc sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Liviu Vaştag's late challenge caught a fc.rasnov's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Liviu Vaştag helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Cata getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Liviu Vaştag hit a great ball. Cata's Jurand Charlos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ted Herrero in the 17th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Cata's Liviu Vaştag got a free kick in the 21st minute. Ian Riach showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolae Pășcuțoiu in the 24th minute of the match. A collision led to Cata getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Cosmin Corcoveanu hit a great ball. fc.rasnov's Ian Riach played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolae Pășcuțoiu in the 30th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ted Herrero in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jurand Charlos saved Cata from getting behind. fc.rasnov's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Traian Mihoc in the 33rd minute. After taking down the ball on fc.rasnov's corner Traian Mihoc fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jurand Charlos quite easily take care of the ball. When Traian Mihoc came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the fc.rasnov fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Traian Mihoc couldn't finish the play. 37 minutes into the match, Cata's goal looked a bit too open when Ted Herrero came free, but Jurand Charlos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ted Herrero fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jurand Charlos having to interfere. If Ted Herrero had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Traian Mihoc to strike the kick off in the second half. Liviu Vaştag hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Cata's Jurand Charlos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iordache Geantă in the 62nd minute of play. Jurand Charlos made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ted Herrero in the 67th minute. Nicolae Pășcuțoiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ian Riach having to interfere. Traian Mihoc struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Jurand Charlos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for fc.rasnov. In the 74th minute, Iurie Urdăreanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ian Riach showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Călin Buciu, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. 83 minutes into the match, Cata's goal looked a bit too open when Traian Mihoc came free, but Jurand Charlos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cata's Călin Buciu got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Nicolae Pășcuțoiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 94 minutes, Traian Mihoc made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Cata's Jurand Charlos tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.
