Csu Craiova's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vierasi CSM the free kick. In the 12th minute, Dinu Carp hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cristian Alexandroae sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristian Ivașcu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Alexandroae in the 17th minute. Denis Ignătescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Leonard Buzoianu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Csu Craiova's Denis Ignătescu managed to work through Vierasi CSM's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Denis Ignătescu dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 31 minutes into the match, Csu Craiova's Sergiu Terzian sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Leonard Buzoianu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cristian Ivașcu was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Aristide Vrabie. In the 45th minute, one of Csu Craiova:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Csu Craiova. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Vali Măcriș in the 55th minute of play forced Csu Craiova's goalkeeper Cristian Ivașcu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Vierasi CSM's Leonard Buzoianu got control of the ball when Denis Ignătescu tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Cristian Alexandroae managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vierasi CSM's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristian Alexandroae was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cristian Ivașcu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sergiu Terzian fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonard Buzoianu having to interfere. If Dumitru Ţintea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Vierasi CSM's Marian Baciu got a free kick in the 77th minute. Denis Ignătescu succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-1 in the 78th playminute. 82 minutes into the match, Csu Craiova's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Alexandroae came free, but Cristian Ivașcu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sergiu Terzian fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonard Buzoianu having to interfere. Denis Ignătescu struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Leonard Buzoianu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Csu Craiova. If Vali Măcriș had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ciprian Gheban's late challenge caught a Csu Craiova's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ciprian Gheban helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Csu Craiova getting a freekick after 99 minutes play. Cornel Roşculeţ hit a great ball. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
