The coaching staff of FC Baia Mare protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Valentin Firoiu had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 11th minute, one of FC Baia Mare:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for FC Baia Mare. Gheorghe Boeru charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gheorghe Boeru the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Diego Osuna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sergiu Muntian in the 32nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iordache Chira in the 37th minute of play forced FC Baia Mare's goalkeeper Diego Osuna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, FC Baia Mare's Diego Osuna got control of the ball when Gigi Popescu tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Valentin Popete made a kick off. Gigi Popescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 55 played minutes FC Baia Mare got a freekick which was hit by Leontin Vâtcă. Diego Osuna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iordache Chira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 59 minutes into the match, Iordache Chira notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of FC Baia Mare's Diego Osuna. Diego Osuna was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
