Spectators: 7465 (Terracing: 5600, Seating: 1716, VIP seats: 149) Cicanesti CF's Costel Potra started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Horea Nicolaescu charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Horea Nicolaescu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 4 played minutes Cicanesti CF got a freekick which was hit by Horea Nicolaescu. 7 minutes into the match, POLITEHNICA IASI's goal looked a bit too open when Costel Potra came free, but Cristinel Cudalb reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. POLITEHNICA IASI's Cristinel Cudalb played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mugurel Zmărăndescu in the 8th minute of play. 9 minutes into the match, POLITEHNICA IASI's goal looked a bit too open when Mugurel Zmărăndescu came free, but Cristinel Cudalb reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 15th minute Șerban Ionițoiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristinel Cudalb saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 18 minutes of play, Cicanesti CF's Bogdan Arosculesei made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cristinel Cudalb was left in no man's land by his defense there! Șerban Ionițoiu took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cristinel Cudalb. Cristinel Cudalb dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Costel Potra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In a very dangerous position, a player in Cicanesti CF fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 32nd minute. Penalty! Nistor Văcărescu placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Cristinel Cudalb showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Costel Potra, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. After 39 played minutes Cicanesti CF got a freekick which was hit by Pavel Iorgovan. Șerban Ionițoiu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristinel Cudalb made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costel Potra in the 43rd minute of play. Cristinel Cudalb showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Costel Potra in the 46th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mădălin Hurmuzescu was the one to do the kick off. In the 56th minute Costel Potra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristinel Cudalb saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aurel Iliuță made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leontin Negreanu in the 61st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Cicanesti CF's zone, Leontin Negreanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aurel Iliuță came out of the goal and Leontin Negreanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Costel Potra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristinel Cudalb having to interfere. Pavel Iorgovan charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pavel Iorgovan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Pavel Iorgovan hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. In the 79th minute of the match Nistor Văcărescu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Aurel Iliuță skillfully saved the ball. Șerban Ionițoiu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cristinel Cudalb having to make a save. If Costel Potra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 93rd match minute, POLITEHNICA IASI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Denis Brezoi to maneuver through the defense. 95 minutes into the match, POLITEHNICA IASI's goalkeeper Cristinel Cudalb had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Șerban Ionițoiu. Costel Potra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Cristinel Cudalb tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cicanesti CF played a much better game than POLITEHNICA IASI and deserved their victory. The POLITEHNICA IASI players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
