Charles Åström scored 2-0 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ştefan Mitu, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Charles Åström struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Ştefan Mitu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Fortuna Poiana Campina. Ioan Ghișe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eliodor Țepeluș in the 23rd minute of play. Charles Åström could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Ştefan Mitu made a huge save. In the 29th match minute, Poli Timisoara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doru Cârnu to maneuver through the defense. Ştefan Mitu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Răzvan Tunaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Sabin Rioşanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. With a little luck, Poli Timisoara's Ştefan Mitu got control of the ball when Charles Åström tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Poli Timisoara's zone, Răzvan Tunaru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ştefan Mitu came out of the goal and Răzvan Tunaru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cristian Gaiță was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the game, Charles Åström cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Ştefan Mitu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ştefan Mitu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Charles Åström's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. FC Fortuna Poiana Campina's Răzvan Tunaru got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
