Ernest Izvoranu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Damian Banu in the 35th minute of the match. Tipau's Ionică Plopan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Florin Dragomiroiu in the 37th minute of play. Ionică Plopan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leontin Alamaru in the 38th minute of play. In the 41st minute, Florin Dragomiroiu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Vlad Brănescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Izvoranu having to interfere. If Marius Ferenț had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ernest Izvoranu came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Tipau's Marius Ferenț. But to his dismay, Marius Ferenț quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 82nd match minute, Tipau was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Iulian Ceaușescu to maneuver through the defense. When Leontin Alamaru came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the FC Steaua Bucuresti fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leontin Alamaru couldn't finish the play. After having played for 85 minutes, Cosmin Ghiondea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Steaua Bucuresti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cosmin Ghiondea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Tipau's zone, Leontin Alamaru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ionică Plopan came out of the goal and Leontin Alamaru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Leontin Alamaru managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC Steaua Bucuresti's supporters rose to their feet, but Leontin Alamaru was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ionică Plopan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tipau were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing FC Steaua Bucuresti to leave the ground with a draw.
