Pompiliu Preda fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ionel Măgureanu having to interfere. In the 13th minute Pompiliu Preda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionel Măgureanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ilie Teodoroiu got free with Ionel Măgureanu in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 27 minutes into the match, Piatra AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Francisc Geambașu came free, but Mugurel Zaharia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to -RAF- Red Hot getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Mugur Petrulean hit a great ball. Ilie Teodoroiu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 37thth minute tested the skills of Ionel Măgureanu when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ionel Măgureanu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Piatra AFC. Ionel Măgureanu made a fantastic save in the 41st minute, when Ilie Teodoroiu sent off a good shot on target. Mihail Onea struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Francisc Geambașu succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-1 in the 55th playminute. If Nistor Lazăr had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pompiliu Preda couldn't finish the play. When Piatra AFC's Pompiliu Preda in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Mugurel Zaharia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nistor Lazăr in the 85th minute of play. Gheorghe Floroiu charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gheorghe Floroiu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 85 played minutes Piatra AFC got a freekick which was hit by Gheorghe Floroiu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gică Militaru in the 93rd minute of play forced Piatra AFC's goalkeeper Mugurel Zaharia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The -RAF- Red Hot supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing -RAF- Red Hot would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
