Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Panait Zdrăilă made the kick off and thus started the match. In the 3rd minute, Nae Voinea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Rapid F.C.'s Valentin Vulpescu got control of the ball when Panait Zdrăilă tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Doru Dedu in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ştefan Nichita saved Dejani CF from getting behind. Valentin Vulpescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Panait Zdrăilă, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ştefan Nichita came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Rapid F.C.'s Frank Ribéry. But to his dismay, Frank Ribéry quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 28th minute, Dejani CF's Andrei Dărăscu seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Andrei Dărăscu the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Dejani CF protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Andrei Dărăscu had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 27th minute of the game. One of Dejani CF:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Rapid F.C.:s goal. In the 32ndth minute of the game Doru Dedu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dejani CF's Ştefan Nichita was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nae Voinea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Dejani CF getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Ionuț Iureș hit a great ball. Doru Dedu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Doru Dedu struck a weak shot in the 42nd minute. Ştefan Nichita didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rapid F.C.. Rapid F.C.'s Valentin Vulpescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Rapid F.C. from getting a goal against them. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Doru Dedu to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Dragoş Pintea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ştefan Nichita was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. If Dragoş Pintea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Rapid F.C.'s Jonny Eklund slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ştefan Nichita. That made the score 0-3 after 60 minutes of play. After 64 played minutes Rapid F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Dragoş Pintea. Valentin Vulpescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nae Voinea in the 65th minute of play. Eric Abidal's late challenge caught a Dejani CF's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eric Abidal helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in Rapid F.C. fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 79th minute. Penalty! After some careless play in the Rapid F.C. defense, Cristian Comarnescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Valentin Vulpescu. The Rapid F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Valentin Vulpescu should have stopped the shot. In the 85th minute Jonny Eklund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ştefan Nichita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 86th minute, one of Dejani CF:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Dejani CF. Rapid F.C.'s Doru Dedu was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 94th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Ionuț Iureș's late challenge caught a Rapid F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ionuț Iureș helped the player get up and apologised. The Dejani CF fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Rapid F.C. were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
