Spectators: 7507 (Terracing: 5631, Seating: 1726, VIP seats: 150) Cirtea's Tudor Sârban started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Universitatea Cluj's Toader Câmpeanu got a free kick in the 3rd minute. Emilian Comarnescu came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by Cirtea's Tudor Sârban. But to his dismay, Tudor Sârban quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 8th minute, Cirtea's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Toader Câmpeanu fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Cosmin Popoacă recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alexandru Papadima charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alexandru Papadima the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alexandru Papadima hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 21st minute, Toader Câmpeanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Universitatea Cluj's supporters rose to their feet, but Toader Câmpeanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emilian Comarnescu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. After a defensive mix-up in Universitatea Cluj's zone, Cosmin Popoacă stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emilian Comarnescu came out of the goal and Cosmin Popoacă tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Alexandru Papadima was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 37 minutes had been played. Alexandru Papadima hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Toader Câmpeanus short, quick shot in the 40thth minute got Gelu Doloman to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Cosmin Popoacă received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Emilian Comarnescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valer Dobrițoiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cosmin Popoacă couldn't finish the play. Tudor Sârban blasted a shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Emilian Comarnescu having to make a save. Gelu Doloman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrei Avram, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Călin Stamate fell near the penalty area in the 81st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cirtea's protests and gave Călin Stamate a yellow card for diving instead. After 83 played minutes Cirtea got a freekick which was hit by Cosmin Popoacă. If Cosmin Popoacă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute Șerban Bucataru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emilian Comarnescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 89th minute Toader Câmpeanu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gelu Doloman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tudor Sârban kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Toader Câmpeanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Toader Câmpeanu came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Universitatea Cluj fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Toader Câmpeanu couldn't finish the play. The Universitatea Cluj fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Cirtea were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
