When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Daniel Târban put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Emilian Comarnescu. After 18 played minutes Universitatea Cluj got a freekick which was hit by Petru Gorunescu. Daniel Târban might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emilian Comarnescu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Târban ran back to his position shaking his head. Iacob Levința showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrei Avram, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. When Toader Câmpeanu came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Universitatea Cluj fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Toader Câmpeanu couldn't finish the play. Andrei Avram took the ball and in the 33 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Iacob Levința. Iacob Levința dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. A collision led to Universitatea Cluj getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Toader Câmpeanu hit a great ball. Ionuț Mihălțan might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Emilian Comarnescu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ionuț Mihălțan ran back to his position shaking his head. If Daniel Târban had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Andrei Avram's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Iacob Levința was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. Andrei Avram might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Iacob Levința. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The wind increased when Daniel Târban made the kick off in the second half. Emilian Comarnescu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ionuț Mihălțan in the 55th minute. In the 57th minute of the match Petru Stanomir shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Emilian Comarnescu showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Toader Câmpeanu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iacob Levința having to interfere. In the 62nd match minute, Iclanzeiu was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Horea Culcer to maneuver through the defense. In the 68th minute, Horea Culcer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Ionuț Mihălțan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Iclanzeiu's supporters rose to their feet, but Ionuț Mihălțan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emilian Comarnescu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 77thth minute of the game Daniel Târban who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Universitatea Cluj's Emilian Comarnescu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Iclanzeiu booed when Universitatea Cluj was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Calistrat Brașoveanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marian Nica, 79 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal.
