Victor Hoancă's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dan Vaida read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. In the 45th match minute, Borussia Dortmund was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Flavius Aliuta to maneuver through the defense. Horea Harhoiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Codrin Penaru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Victor Hoancă made the kick off in the second half. Through an outstanding action, after 54 minutes, Codrin Penaru successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Denis Chiru during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 58th minute Vali Albu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dan Vaida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 59 minutes into the game, Nicodim Almăgean was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Borussia Dortmund's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sindrila the free kick. After 59 played minutes Borussia Dortmund got a freekick which was hit by Nicodim Almăgean. Dan Vaida made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vali Albu in the 64th minute of play. In the 67th minute Victor Hoancă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dan Vaida saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flavius Aliuta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 85 played minutes Sindrila got a freekick which was hit by Ivan Macavei. A collision led to Sindrila getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Gheorghe Goiceanu hit a great ball. After recieving a nice pass, Borussia Dortmund's Manuel Lucănescu tried to score from far away in the 87th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. If Victor Hoancă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Horea Harhoiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Codrin Penaru having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Sindrila eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
