After having played for 33 minutes, Ion Cioacă managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dagata's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ion Cioacă was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. F.C Rapid Bucuresti's Maxim Gherghe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ion Cioacă in the 38th minute of play. Ion Cioacă recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leontin Unchiaşu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Maxim Gherghe having to make a save. Victor Vuşcan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Maxim Gherghe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for David Apopei to strike the kick off in the second half. When Iacob Negoescu fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dagata's protests and gave Iacob Negoescu a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Dagata getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Iacob Negoescu hit a great ball. Dagata's Iacob Negoescu got his second yellow card of the match in the 54th minute. The referee ordered Iacob Negoescu off the ground. The supporters of Dagata booed when F.C Rapid Bucuresti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mihnea Mavrogheni didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 73rd minute Niculae Zdrobău shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Codrin Stroescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, F.C Rapid Bucuresti's Maxim Gherghe got control of the ball when Victor Vuşcan tried to sneak it across the goal line.
