Gelu Horațiu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 20thth minute tested the skills of Valeriu Susara when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The referee ignored FC Velos's protests and gave Teodor Junilă a yellow card for diving instead. After 28 played minutes FC Velos got a freekick which was hit by Teodor Junilă. Nicolae Oprescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Teodor Focșa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valeriu Susara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aristide Drâmba in the 37th minute of the match. FC Velos's Gelu Horațiu got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Teodor Focșa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolae Oprescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

In the 87th minute, Nicolae Oprescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, FC Velos's Teodor Focșa got control of the ball when Nicolae Oprescu tried to sneak it across the goal line. 90 minutes into the game, Gelu Horațiu cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0.
