FC Ripensia Timișoara's defense didn't have a chance, in the 18th minute, when Mihăiţă Marica scored to the left of an out of position Horaţiu Daimacă, making the score, 2-0. In the 21st match minute, FC Ripensia Timișoara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Codruț Luncanu to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sabin Encuțu in the 23rd minute of play forced FC Ripensia Timișoara's goalkeeper Horaţiu Daimacă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 24 minutes into the match, Mugurel Dărăscu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Horaţiu Daimacă. FC Ripensia Timișoara's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mugurel Dărăscu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. FC Ripensia Timișoara's Aristide Bălcescu got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 34th minute, Nichifor Păuceanu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gusu fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. After a defensive mix-up in Gusu's zone, Aristide Bălcescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Matei Zburliş came out of the goal and Aristide Bălcescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 42 minutes into the match, Gösta Bolander notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Gusu's Matei Zburliş. Matei Zburliş was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Gösta Bolander made a kick off. Gösta Bolander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aristide Bălcescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Matei Zburliş having to interfere. A collision led to FC Ripensia Timișoara getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Codruț Luncanu hit a great ball. Matei Zburliş breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Gösta Bolander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 73 minutes into the match, FC Ripensia Timișoara's goal looked a bit too open when Mugurel Dărăscu came free, but Horaţiu Daimacă reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gösta Bolander struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Matei Zburliş didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Ripensia Timișoara. Sabin Encuțu hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. 83 minutes into the match, FC Ripensia Timișoara's Corneliu Tremurici sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Matei Zburliş narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gusu's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Ripensia Timișoara the free kick. In the 95th minute, Gösta Bolander got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 97th minute Aristide Bălcescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matei Zburliş saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gusu's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
