The referee ignored Oituz Tg Ocna's protests and gave Eugen Necșulescu a yellow card for diving instead. Cristinel Alecu went to the wrong direction when 高沙战 was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Oituz Tg Ocna's Cristinel Alecu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matei Ailincai in the 9th minute of play. If Mihail Tufescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Cătălin Giurcă recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Radu Aristide during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of FC Ripensia Timisoara booed when Oituz Tg Ocna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Radu Aristide didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristinel Alecu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Codruț Purcaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cristinel Alecu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cătălin Giurcă in the 64th minute of play. Cristinel Alecu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cătălin Giurcă, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Codruț Purcaru in the 75th minute of play forced Oituz Tg Ocna's goalkeeper Cristinel Alecu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 77th minute Codruț Purcaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristinel Alecu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cristinel Alecu came out of the goal and Cătălin Giurcă tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Codruț Purcaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC Ripensia Timisoara's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
