Dorin Mudura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tudor Tase, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tudor Tase received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Dorin Mudura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mădălin Jerca came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Girdoaia's Dumitru Honciu. But to his dismay, Dumitru Honciu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Tudor Tase received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Dorin Mudura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, FC Girdoaia's Dumitru Honciu got a free kick in the 34th minute. If Doru Mitică had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Doru Mitică could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Dorin Mudura made a huge save. Tudor Tase fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorin Mudura having to interfere. Ioan Logofeteanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 45 minutes, Doru Mitică managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CFR 1907 CLUJ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Doru Mitică was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 48 minutes into the match, CFR 1907 CLUJ's goal looked a bit too open when Paul Pătrășconiu came free, but Mădălin Jerca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in FC Girdoaia's zone, Ioan Logofeteanu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dorin Mudura came out of the goal and Ioan Logofeteanu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of CFR 1907 CLUJ booed when FC Girdoaia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nechifor Gorgan didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Tudor Tase managed to get in a good position for a shot. CFR 1907 CLUJ's supporters rose to their feet, but Tudor Tase was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
