Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) FC Tractorul Mehedinti's Manole Predoiu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Horaţiu Hapaina breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Avram Muraru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugen Vârnav having to interfere. Manole Predoiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Eugen Vârnav tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 12th minute Iordache Dărmănescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horaţiu Hapaina saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Horaţiu Hapaina showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iordache Dărmănescu in the 15th minute of the match. Eugen Vârnav showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manole Predoiu in the 17th minute of the match. Avram Muraru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marin Roșeanu charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. FC Tractorul Mehedinti's Horaţiu Hapaina proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save FC Tractorul Mehedinti from getting a goal against them. Lucrețiu Hoduț was extremely unlucky when he, in the 35th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The supporters of Mariuta booed when FC Tractorul Mehedinti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ion Jilăveanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Iordache Dărmănescu got free in front of the goal in the 46th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Horaţiu Hapaina was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iordache Dărmănescu to make the kick off. Iordache Dărmănescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the FC Tractorul Mehedinti defense, Iordache Dărmănescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Horaţiu Hapaina. The FC Tractorul Mehedinti fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Horaţiu Hapaina should have stopped the shot. During the 68th minute of the match Marin Roșeanu completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Marin Roșeanu a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. A collision led to FC Tractorul Mehedinti getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Marin Roșeanu hit a great ball. Iordache Dărmănescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Horaţiu Hapaina read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. FC Tractorul Mehedinti's Horaţiu Hapaina played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iordache Dărmănescu in the 78th minute of play. After 79 minutes, Manole Predoiu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Tractorul Mehedinti and the Mariuta players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 79 played minutes FC Tractorul Mehedinti got a freekick which was hit by Manole Predoiu. In the 86th minute Iordache Dărmănescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horaţiu Hapaina saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iordache Dărmănescu in the 93rd minute of play forced FC Tractorul Mehedinti's goalkeeper Horaţiu Hapaina to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
