BRASOV:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for F.C. BRASOV. The goalkeeper, George Blajovici, was totally fooled by Rapid București's Robert Bejenaru, who 9 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Petre Nastac showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paul Comăneci, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. After a rather tough play, F.C. BRASOV's Emanuel Gherasim got a free kick in the 17th minute. Bogdan Ichim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Petre Nastac tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute, Rapid București's Constantin Ungureanu ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind George Blajovici. George Blajovici yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Paul Comăneci fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Petre Nastac having to interfere. If Constantin Ungureanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Constantin Stejaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Constantin Stejaru came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Rapid București fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Constantin Stejaru couldn't finish the play. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The wind increased when Constantin Ungureanu made the kick off in the second half. When Constantin Ungureanu came up free with the goalie in the 53rd minute, the Rapid București fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Constantin Ungureanu couldn't finish the play. Constantin Ungureanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. George Blajovici tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. George Blajovici made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Constantin Stejaru in the 58th minute of play. Paul Comăneci blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Petre Nastac having to make a save. Rapid București's Petre Nastac played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bogdan Ichim in the 65th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Constantin Ungureanu in the 69th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg George Blajovici saved F.C. BRASOV from getting behind. 72 minutes into the match, F.C. BRASOV's Paul Comăneci sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Petre Nastac narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Paul Comăneci sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Bogdan Ichim took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Petre Nastac to make any attempt to save it. Petre Nastac showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bogdan Ichim in the 87th minute of the match. After having played for 89 minutes, Mihai Sorin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. F.C. BRASOV's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mihai Sorin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Paul Comăneci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a little luck, Rapid București's Petre Nastac got control of the ball when Paul Comăneci tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rapid București's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
