The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Marcu Mihuț struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. George Blajovici didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inter-SPORT. George Blajovici made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costel Isaia in the 10th minute of play. In the 12th minute, Șerban Văcăroiu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 15th minute Bogdan Ichim shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Boerescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 16th match minute, Inter-SPORT was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Valeriu Manolescu to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bogdan Ichim in the 33rd minute of play forced Inter-SPORT's goalkeeper George Boerescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. F.C. BRASOV's George Blajovici played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mădălin Cămărășescu in the 38th minute of play. George Boerescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bogdan Ichim, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. With a little luck, Inter-SPORT's George Boerescu got control of the ball when Paul Comăneci tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

BRASOV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After a rather tough play, F.C. BRASOV's Eric Hrandabur got a free kick in the 90th minute. Bogdan Ichim charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bogdan Ichim the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. F.C. BRASOV had won after a very even match.
