Spectators: 7515 (Terracing: 5637, Seating: 1728, VIP seats: 150) STEAUA BUCURESTI's Petre Beraru started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nicodim Cozmâncă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Petre Beraru in the 7th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, Silviu Teodoroiu notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of FC SPIRIT's Nicodim Cozmâncă. Nicodim Cozmâncă was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 15th minute, Iacob Lupulescu made a precise shot to the right of Remus Geamănu. STEAUA BUCURESTI's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Remus Geamănu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ovidiu Boeru in the 20th minute of the match. If Silviu Teodoroiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute Petre Beraru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nicodim Cozmâncă saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in FC SPIRIT's zone, Petre Beraru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicodim Cozmâncă came out of the goal and Petre Beraru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to FC SPIRIT getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Marius Maghiran hit a great ball. Petre Beraru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicodim Cozmâncă having to interfere. After 47 played minutes STEAUA BUCURESTI got a freekick which was hit by Francisc Calomfirescu. In the 48th minute, Iacob Lupulescu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Remus Geamănu was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gigel Blidaru stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Petre Beraru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nicodim Cozmâncă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silviu Teodoroiu in the 59th minute of play. Nicodim Cozmâncă took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Petre Beraru, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Petre Beraru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Silviu Teodoroiu struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Nicodim Cozmâncă didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for STEAUA BUCURESTI. After a defensive mix-up in FC SPIRIT's zone, Silviu Teodoroiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicodim Cozmâncă came out of the goal and Silviu Teodoroiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Petre Beraru in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nicodim Cozmâncă prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ovidiu Boeru hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. Narcis Stoicănescu kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Remus Geamănu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gigel Blidaru in the 90th minute of play. Iacob Lupulescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iacob Lupulescu got free with Remus Geamănu in the 100th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
