FC Alex's Ernest Arnăuțescu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 25th minute of the match, managed to save FC Alex from getting a goal against them. Paul Comăneci blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ernest Arnăuțescu having to make a save. In the 29th minute, Bogdan Ichim got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paul Comăneci received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Ernest Arnăuțescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, FC Alex's Petru Alexa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that George Blajovici narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 39th minute, Victor Rusu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 41stth minute of the game Bogdan Ichim who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Alex's Ernest Arnăuțescu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some careless play in the F.C. BRASOV defense, Petru Alexa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of George Blajovici. The F.C. BRASOV fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that George Blajovici should have stopped the shot.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pompiliu Dima stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paul Comăneci in the 54th minute of play forced FC Alex's goalkeeper Ernest Arnăuțescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 56th play minute Petru Alexa came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised George Blajovici. 0-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Șerban Văcăroiu during the 60th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 60th minute, Șerban Văcăroiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 61 minutes into the game, Mihai Sorin was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. F.C. BRASOV's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Alex the free kick. After a rather tough play, F.C. BRASOV's Mihai Sorin got a free kick in the 61st minute. In the 66th minute the ball was on its way in behind F.C. BRASOV's goalkeeper George Blajovici, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in F.C. BRASOV's zone, Petru Alexa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. George Blajovici came out of the goal and Petru Alexa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Manole Hritcu's late challenge caught a FC Alex's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manole Hritcu helped the player get up and apologised. Manole Hritcu hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. George Blajovici made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pompiliu Dima in the 75th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bogdan Ichim in the 76th minute of play forced FC Alex's goalkeeper Ernest Arnăuțescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paul Comăneci in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ernest Arnăuțescu saved FC Alex from getting behind. After 93 played minutes FC Alex got a freekick which was hit by Cătălin Bâru. Paul Comăneci sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. FC Alex had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
