The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ciprian Goga during the 5th minute. Ilie Geoană made an important save on a dangerous shot by Augustin Iorgu in the 29th minute. 31 minutes into the match, Corsarii Tycalosi's Stelian Pivniceru sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ilie Geoană narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Stelian Pivniceru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ilie Geoană having to interfere. Stelian Pivniceru recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 39th minute, FC STEAUA-BTF's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Augustin Iorgu fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Through an outstanding action, after 41 minutes, Ilie Geoană successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After a defensive mix-up in FC STEAUA-BTF's zone, Augustin Iorgu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ilie Geoană came out of the goal and Augustin Iorgu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 46th minute, Horaţiu Enache got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

The wind increased when Horaţiu Enache made the kick off in the second half. Ilie Geoană didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from David Ghionescu went, in the 51st minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. FC STEAUA-BTF's Remus Albescu got a good chance for a goal in the 55th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Horaţiu Enache in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Irinel Malcoci prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nistor Jecu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horaţiu Enache in the 68th minute of play forced Corsarii Tycalosi's goalkeeper Irinel Malcoci to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ilie Geoană made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stelian Pivniceru in the 71st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Horaţiu Enache managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC STEAUA-BTF's supporters rose to their feet, but Horaţiu Enache was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After 80 played minutes Horaţiu Enache rounded Corsarii Tycalosi's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. In the 83rd minute, Augustin Iorgu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ilie Geoană was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Stelian Pivniceru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Ilie Geoană tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Corsarii Tycalosi had won after a very even match.
