After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Cristi Zafiu managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC CFR Cluj's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristi Zafiu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nicolae Chirnoagă breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 16th minute, Petre Sucigan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Pivniceni's zone, Cristi Zafiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicolae Chirnoagă came out of the goal and Cristi Zafiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leontin Pârcălab fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusebiu Pârvan having to interfere. FC CFR Cluj's Eusebiu Pârvan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save FC CFR Cluj from getting a goal against them. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leontin Pârcălab in the 25th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eusebiu Pârvan saved FC CFR Cluj from getting behind. In the 26th minute, Tudor Feroiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpected shot in the 28th minute by Tudor Feroiu got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Leontin Pârcălab had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eusebiu Pârvan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leontin Pârcălab in the 30th minute of the match. After 44 played minutes FC CFR Cluj got a freekick which was hit by Mihai Buciu. After some careless play in the Pivniceni defense, Cristi Zafiu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nicolae Chirnoagă. The Pivniceni fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nicolae Chirnoagă should have stopped the shot.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leontin Pârcălab stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pavel Braniște hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Marin Verzeanu's late challenge caught a Pivniceni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marin Verzeanu helped the player get up and apologised. Eusebiu Pârvan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leontin Pârcălab, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. In the 72nd minute of the match Eduard Mardare shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eusebiu Pârvan showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Radu Melinescu during the 72nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Radu Melinescu kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. If Tudor Feroiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Petre Sucigan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chants of FC CFR Cluj echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Pivniceni had held the ball for most of the match.
