In the 13th minute Leontin Pârcălab shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ilie Geoană saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ilie Geoană stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Leontin Pârcălab's shot from short distance in the 15th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Pivniceni's zone, Horaţiu Enache stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Nicolae Chirnoagă came out of the goal and Horaţiu Enache tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 21 minutes into the match, FC STEAUA-BTF's goal looked a bit too open when Tudor Feroiu came free, but Ilie Geoană reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 22 played minutes FC STEAUA-BTF got a freekick which was hit by Remus Albescu. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tudor Feroiu in the 26th minute of play forced FC STEAUA-BTF's goalkeeper Ilie Geoană to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ilie Geoană showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leontin Pârcălab, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Leontin Pârcălab managed to get in a good position for a shot. Pivniceni's supporters rose to their feet, but Leontin Pârcălab was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ilie Geoană breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Remus Albescu's late challenge caught a Pivniceni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Remus Albescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Leontin Pârcălab in the 45th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ilie Geoană saved FC STEAUA-BTF from getting behind. If Tudor Feroiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 49 minutes, Leontin Pârcălab managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pivniceni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Leontin Pârcălab was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Leontin Pârcălab to strike the kick off in the second half. The supporters of Pivniceni booed when FC STEAUA-BTF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Petruț Dănășel didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Leontin Pârcălab's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ilie Geoană was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. If Horaţiu Enache had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 79 played minutes Pivniceni got a freekick which was hit by Costică Oproiu. In the 82nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pivniceni's goalkeeper Nicolae Chirnoagă, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Pivniceni had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
