The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 4 played minutes Marmatia-Sighet MM got a freekick which was hit by Maxim Calomfir. Niculae Harbuz was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Răzvan Maiorescu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 9 minute of play. Niculae Harbuz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basarab Grozăvescu in the 12th minute of play. If Ovidiu Dancu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Basarab Grozăvescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Giurgeni booed when Marmatia-Sighet MM was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Iustinian Geantă didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Ovidiu Dancu came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Giurgeni fans jumped to their feet. After a defensive mix-up in Marmatia-Sighet MM's zone, Ovidiu Dancu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sever Mocanu came out of the goal and Ovidiu Dancu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 39th minute, Matei Văcărescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Giurgeni fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After 44 played minutes Marmatia-Sighet MM got a freekick which was hit by Tudor Papadima. Lucian Bosioc missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 46 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Sever Mocanu right hand side.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Matei Văcărescu made a kick off. Marmatia-Sighet MM's defense didn't have a chance, in the 51st minute, when Matei Văcărescu scored to the left of an out of position Sever Mocanu, making the score, 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Basarab Grozăvescu in the 55th minute of play forced Giurgeni's goalkeeper Niculae Harbuz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sever Mocanu made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Ovidiu Dancu sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Marmatia-Sighet MM booed when Giurgeni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pavel Stoicănescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marmatia-Sighet MM's Sever Mocanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 68th minute of the match, managed to save Marmatia-Sighet MM from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Matei Văcărescu in the 70th minute of play forced Marmatia-Sighet MM's goalkeeper Sever Mocanu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dan Şoimu hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Ovidiu Dancu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Giurgeni's supporters rose to their feet, but Ovidiu Dancu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sever Mocanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sever Mocanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matei Văcărescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ovidiu Dancu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 88th minute the ball was on its way in behind Marmatia-Sighet MM's goalkeeper Sever Mocanu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Basarab Grozăvescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Matei Văcărescu in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sever Mocanu saved Marmatia-Sighet MM from getting behind. Giurgeni played a much better game than Marmatia-Sighet MM and deserved their victory. The Marmatia-Sighet MM players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
