Ionică Tomoioagă was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Costică Frânculescu struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Ionică Tomoioagă didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CVUCS POLI. In the 8th minute Dumitru Vrabie shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionică Tomoioagă saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 9 minutes, Nicolae Gherasescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the CFR Cluj and the CVUCS POLI players grew even worse after the yellow card. Nicolae Gherasescu kicked well hit freekick during the 9th minute of the match. In the 9th minute of the match Petruț Bulgar sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ionică Tomoioagă skillfully saved the ball. 18 minutes into the game, CFR Cluj's Alex Agulescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Valeriu Răchită made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Ionică Tomoioagă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dumitru Vrabie in the 22nd minute of play. After 28 played minutes CFR Cluj got a freekick which was hit by Bogdan Jecu. In the 29th minute, Petruț Bulgar got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Nicolae Gherasescu came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the CFR Cluj fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicolae Gherasescu couldn't finish the play. A collision led to CVUCS POLI getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Nichifor Bejan hit a great ball. In the 35th minute, Petruț Bulgar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 39 minutes into the game, Iosif Mantoiu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CFR Cluj's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CVUCS POLI the free kick. The audience was convinced that Dumitru Vrabie's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ionică Tomoioagă was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. Ionică Tomoioagă stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dumitru Vrabie's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

In the 50th match minute, CVUCS POLI was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marian Săndoi to maneuver through the defense. Ionică Tomoioagă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dumitru Vrabie in the 53rd minute of play. Costică Frânculescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ionică Tomoioagă having to interfere. 58 minutes into the game, one of CFR Cluj:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Ionică Tomoioagă, was totally fooled by CVUCS POLI's Petruț Bulgar, who 60 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Alex Agulescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cazimir Brănet struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Valeriu Răchită didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CFR Cluj. Ionică Tomoioagă made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marian Săndoi in the 70th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dumitru Vrabie in the 71st minute of play forced CFR Cluj's goalkeeper Ionică Tomoioagă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 72nd minute, Nicolae Gherasescu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Valeriu Răchită was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. CFR Cluj's Ionică Tomoioagă proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save CFR Cluj from getting a goal against them. Dumitru Vrabie's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 78thth minute, Ionică Tomoioagă skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Dumitru Vrabie fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ionică Tomoioagă having to interfere. Ionică Tomoioagă took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Panait Filip, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. CVUCS POLI's Panait Filip got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With his leg Ionică Tomoioagă managed to avoid a goal in the 94thth minute, when CVUCS POLI's Dumitru Vrabie fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 97th minute, Dumitru Vrabie ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ionică Tomoioagă was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. CVUCS POLI's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
