Traian Croitoru took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nichifor Albescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Debrecen RO's zone, Nichifor Albescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Traian Croitoru came out of the goal and Nichifor Albescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Debrecen RO getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Cornel Vrânceanu hit a great ball. A very good chance. 44 minutes into the match, Argeș FCV's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Lupoaia came free, but Albert Oprița reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Narcis Conta, 65 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Florin Comarnescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Traian Croitoru tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Victor Lupoaia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albert Oprița having to interfere.
