If Iordache Păunescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iordache Păunescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Augustin Vâlceanu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Iordache Păunescu did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-4 to the left of a surprised Augustin Vâlceanu 52 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iordache Păunescu in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Augustin Vâlceanu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dorel Ghiorman got free with Augustin Vâlceanu in the 60th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dorel Ghiorman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Augustin Vâlceanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Augustin Vâlceanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iordache Păunescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute.
