The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Moise Sichitiu's late challenge caught a FK MERCEDES's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Moise Sichitiu helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to FCSA getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Moise Sichitiu hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Maxim Toader's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Codruț Gherghe was relentless in the 11th minute of the game. When Robert Astafiei came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the FK MERCEDES fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Astafiei couldn't finish the play. Codruț Gherghe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maxim Toader in the 14th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Astafiei in the 17th minute of play forced FCSA's goalkeeper Codruț Gherghe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. FCSA's Codruț Gherghe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristinel Șerbulescu in the 19th minute of play. Codruț Gherghe came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by FK MERCEDES's Maxim Toader. But to his dismay, Maxim Toader quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristinel Șerbulescu in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Codruț Gherghe prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Iacob Panciu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 28 played minutes FK MERCEDES got a freekick which was hit by Robert Astafiei. After some careless play in the FCSA defense, Maxim Toader kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Codruț Gherghe. The FCSA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Codruț Gherghe should have stopped the shot. Codruț Gherghe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mugurel Găman in the 33rd minute of the match. After having played for 36 minutes, Robert Astafiei managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FK MERCEDES's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robert Astafiei was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Codruț Gherghe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Maxim Toader, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Maxim Toader in the 42nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Codruț Gherghe prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 42 played minutes FCSA got a freekick which was hit by Doru Sântimbrean. FCSA's Codruț Gherghe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristinel Șerbulescu in the 44th minute of play. When Maxim Toader fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FK MERCEDES's protests and gave Maxim Toader a yellow card for diving instead. Maxim Toader hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. FCSA's Iacob Panciu shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 47th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Ionel Rădoi but with some difficulty. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

In the 52nd minute Moise Sichitiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionel Rădoi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ştefan Hapaina recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgar Pivniceru in the 56th minute of play forced FK MERCEDES's goalkeeper Ionel Rădoi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Codruț Gherghe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mugurel Găman in the 60th minute of the match. 62 minutes into the match, FCSA's goalkeeper Codruț Gherghe had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robert Astafiei. Mugurel Găman struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Codruț Gherghe didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FK MERCEDES. 67 minutes into the match, FCSA's goal looked a bit too open when Robert Astafiei came free, but Codruț Gherghe reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maxim Toader got free with Codruț Gherghe in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Codruț Gherghe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mugurel Găman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. FCSA's Edgar Pivniceru got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 77 minutes, Iacob Panciu made it 1-4 with a short kick to the right side. FK MERCEDES's Ionel Rădoi tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Dragoş Ştefănuţ managed to get in a good position for a shot. FK MERCEDES's supporters rose to their feet, but Dragoş Ştefănuţ was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Codruț Gherghe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 82nd minute Mugurel Găman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Codruț Gherghe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maxim Toader came free with the goalkeeper in the 83rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Codruț Gherghe could save by the left post. A collision led to FCSA getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Ştefan Hapaina hit a great ball. FCSA's defense didn't have a chance, in the 85th minute, when Cristinel Șerbulescu scored to the left of an out of position Codruț Gherghe, making the score, 1-5. 88 minutes into the game, Maxim Toader cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-6. Codruț Gherghe was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Dragoş Ştefănuţ fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FK MERCEDES's protests and gave Dragoş Ştefănuţ a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FK MERCEDES getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Dragoş Ştefănuţ hit a great ball. The FCSA fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. FK MERCEDES were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
