Gigel Marin could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Stelian Muncelean made a huge save. Iurie Domnescu's late challenge caught a Golfinul UFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Iurie Domnescu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 8th minute, Iurie Domnescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gigel Marin got free with Stelian Muncelean in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Golfinul UFC's Alex Agârbiceanu got a free kick in the 15th minute. After having played for 16 minutes, Gigel Marin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Baia Mare's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gigel Marin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 18th minute Codrin Şneapotă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stelian Muncelean saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 20 minutes into the game, Leontin Zdrobiş was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Golfinul UFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Baia Mare the free kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Codrin Şneapotă in the 22nd minute of play forced Golfinul UFC's goalkeeper Stelian Muncelean to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristi Grămescu couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Codrin Şneapotă made a kick off. Alex Agârbiceanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 51st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The FC Baia Mare fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. 63 minutes into the game, Codrin Şneapotă cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Stelian Muncelean was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Baia Mare's goalkeeper Cristinel Lozovan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Alex Agârbiceanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 89 minutes, Cristi Grămescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, FC Baia Mare could leave the field as winners, despite Golfinul UFC having more of the ball for most of the match.
