After having played for 5 minutes, Iacob Azamfirei managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC STEAUA ADJ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Iacob Azamfirei was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iacob Azamfirei in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ionuț Apostu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Filip Blănaru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Gigel Marchiș tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 17 minutes into the match, FC STEAUA ADJ's Mihail Tufescu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ionuț Apostu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of FC STEAUA ADJ booed when Langenfeld CSS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luca Vâlceanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. The FC STEAUA ADJ fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when FC STEAUA ADJ's Mihail Tufescu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vlad Toma in the 33rd minute of play forced FC STEAUA ADJ's goalkeeper Gigel Marchiș to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 34th minute, Filip Blănaru got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iacob Azamfirei in the 36th minute of play forced Langenfeld CSS's goalkeeper Ionuț Apostu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tudor Tudorache during the 44th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 45 played minutes FC STEAUA ADJ got a freekick which was hit by Tudor Tudorache. After a defensive mix-up in FC STEAUA ADJ's zone, Vlad Toma stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gigel Marchiș came out of the goal and Vlad Toma tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iacob Azamfirei to make the kick off. In the 53rd match minute, Langenfeld CSS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Costică Trandafir to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 54 minutes, Nistor Curuțiu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC STEAUA ADJ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nistor Curuțiu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mihail Tufescu got free with Ionuț Apostu in the 56th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Langenfeld CSS's Ionuț Apostu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 60th minute of the match, managed to save Langenfeld CSS from getting a goal against them. Mihail Tufescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ionuț Apostu having to interfere. Mihail Tufescu did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-2 to the left of a surprised Ionuț Apostu 65 minutes into the match. In the 69th match minute, FC STEAUA ADJ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nichifor Rușanu to maneuver through the defense. In the 70th minute, Vlad Toma made a precise shot to the right of Gigel Marchiș. FC STEAUA ADJ's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. Vlad Toma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gigel Marchiș having to interfere. Gigel Marchiș showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filip Blănaru, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Codruț Argăseală kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. FC STEAUA ADJ's Mihail Tufescu got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 85th minute Iacob Azamfirei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionuț Apostu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Langenfeld CSS defense, Mihail Tufescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ionuț Apostu. The Langenfeld CSS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ionuț Apostu should have stopped the shot. Filip Blănaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
