The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Fc Poli Unirea Iasi. After 14 played minutes, Bucovat CS's Ferdinand Oțeteleșanu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gică Bornescu came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Bucovat CS reached it. Cătălin Țepelea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Marian Boteanu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Flavius Floreanu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Marian Boteanu having to make a save. Bucovat CS's Marian Boteanu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cătălin Țepelea in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute, Cătălin Țepelea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Fc Poli Unirea Iasi's Cătălin Țepelea sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marian Boteanu narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fc Poli Unirea Iasi's Sever Lung shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 37th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Marian Boteanu but with some difficulty. If Iurie Purje had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iurie Purje recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iurie Purje to make the kick off. After having played for 53 minutes, Flavius Floreanu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fc Poli Unirea Iasi's supporters crossed their fingers, but Flavius Floreanu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Niculae Dumitru charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Niculae Dumitru the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Fc Poli Unirea Iasi booed when Bucovat CS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 54 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niculae Dumitru didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gică Bornescu stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Iurie Purje's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. If Flavius Floreanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute, Iurie Purje fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Gică Bornescu, passed just outside the right post. If Bogdan Chitila had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 87th minute of the match, Iurie Purje tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Gică Bornescu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Bogdan Chitila received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Gică Bornescu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bucovat CS's Iurie Purje got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bucovat CS's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
