With a little luck, Fc Poli Unirea Iasi's Gică Bornescu got control of the ball when Albert Boian tried to sneak it across the goal line. Flavius Floreanu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mihail Magheran read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Emil Mitrea hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Gică Bornescu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Albert Boian in the 31st minute. The supporters of Fc Poli Unirea Iasi booed when Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. David Baltian didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot 96 in the game by Flavius Floreanu from a close distance when the talented Mihail Magheran managed to make a qualified save. Old Boys's players were relieved.
