Penes's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CSMS Iasi the free kick. Iosif Dănănae hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Doru Moisescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Dacian Brânzaru took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ernest Mihăilă. Ernest Mihăilă dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Dinu Dobre kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. After 16 played minutes, Penes's Panait Ghițescu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Valentin Manea came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Penes reached it. Penes's Paul Apostolescu got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 20th minute, Claudiu Griguță hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dacian Brânzaru kicked a quick shot right in front of the goal in the 27thth minute. Though ot was a great shot Penes's keeper Ernest Mihăilă was sill able to block leaving the score board unchanged. In the 28th minute, Denis Măguran left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Penes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Penes's Paul Apostolescu got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in CSMS Iasi's zone, Denis Măguran stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valentin Manea came out of the goal and Denis Măguran tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Vlad Baicu struck a weak shot in the 43rd minute. Ernest Mihăilă didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CSMS Iasi. Doru Moisescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valentin Manea showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denis Măguran in the 47th minute of the match.

In the 51st minute Gigel Feraru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ernest Mihăilă saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doru Moisescu in the 56th minute of play forced Penes's goalkeeper Ernest Mihăilă to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 57 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for CSMS Iasi! In the 60th minute there was a penalty for Penes. Panait Ghițescu stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Valentin Manea. 1-2. Valentin Manea made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denis Măguran in the 70th minute of play. Ernest Mihăilă showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dacian Brânzaru in the 72nd minute of the match. Dacian Brânzaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, CSMS Iasi's Valeriu Senin got a free kick in the 79th minute. If Denis Măguran had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Denis Măguran's late challenge caught a CSMS Iasi's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Denis Măguran helped the player get up and apologised. Dacian Brânzaru received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Ernest Mihăilă tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Denis Măguran was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 91st minute. Penes's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Penes walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
