Spectators: 7511 (Terracing: 5634, Seating: 1727, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Niculae Aronescu started the match with the kick off. Penes's Ernest Mihăilă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emil Dudău in the 17th minute of play. If Paul Apostolescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 22ndth minute of the game Niculae Aronescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Penes's Ernest Mihăilă was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Niculae Aronescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău's Emil Dudău got a free kick in the 31st minute. A collision led to LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Horaţiu Ivasiuc hit a great ball. When Paul Apostolescu came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Penes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paul Apostolescu couldn't finish the play. Dan Zbârlea hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Niculae Aronescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Mihăilă having to interfere. Emil Dudău received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Ernest Mihăilă tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Denis Gârdescu's late challenge caught a Penes's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Denis Gârdescu helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău's Denis Gârdescu got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 53rd minute of the match Luca Ponta sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Leonard Staicu skillfully saved the ball. In the 55th minute, Luca Ponta hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 60 minutes, Niculae Aronescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău's supporters crossed their fingers, but Niculae Aronescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Claudiu Griguță fell near the penalty area in the 65th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Penes's protests and gave Claudiu Griguță a yellow card for diving instead. In the 65th match minute, Penes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Claudiu Griguță to maneuver through the defense. Niculae Aronescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Ernest Mihăilă tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Claudiu Griguță was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 73 minutes had been played. If Niculae Aronescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 76 played minutes Penes got a freekick which was hit by Denis Măguran. Ernest Mihăilă stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Niculae Aronescu's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. 85 minutes into the match, LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău's goal looked a bit too open when Paul Apostolescu came free, but Leonard Staicu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Penes getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Denis Măguran hit a great ball. Niculae Aronescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Penes succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău had controlled the match.
