Leonard Staicu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Augustin Săndoi in the 3rd minute of the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 5th minute of the game. One of LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of FC POLITEHNICA TIMISOARA:s goal. The referee gave FC POLITEHNICA TIMISOARA a penalty, 7 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Adam Tuleiu, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău's Leonard Staicu. 0-1. If Niculae Aronescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Emil Dudău sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FC POLITEHNICA TIMISOARA's Viorel Chitimia got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of FC POLITEHNICA TIMISOARA booed when LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Horaţiu Ivasiuc didn't get a good kick on the ball. Emil Dudău charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Emil Dudău the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Emil Dudău hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău's Narcis Dumitru got a free kick in the 24th minute. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Tudor Petcu, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 39th minute Niculae Aronescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tudor Petcu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emil Dudău took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tudor Petcu. Tudor Petcu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Augustin Săndoi stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Emil Dudău received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Tudor Petcu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Emil Dudău sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 58 minutes into the game, LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău's Niculae Aronescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tudor Petcu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. In the 64th minute, Augustin Săndoi fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. If Emil Dudău had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 70th minute Niculae Aronescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tudor Petcu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Emil Dudău had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Emil Dudău recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 82nd minute, Eusebiu Muraru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 83rdth minute of the game Niculae Aronescu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC POLITEHNICA TIMISOARA's Tudor Petcu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Emil Dudău managed to get in a good position for a shot. LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău's supporters rose to their feet, but Emil Dudău was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tudor Petcu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Niculae Aronescu might have been able to make a better finish in the 97th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Tudor Petcu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Niculae Aronescu ran back to his position shaking his head. LPS I Balaș Soter Buzău's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
