Cătălin Nica didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Olimpiu Zbârnea went, in the 3rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Virgil Teodorescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Cătălin Nica tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Republica Ploiești's goalkeeper Horia Filipașcu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Republica Ploiești's Ovidiu Jucan got a free kick in the 22nd minute. After 24 played minutes Republica Ploiești got a freekick which was hit by Alexandru Găină. Virgil Teodorescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgil Teodorescu in the 35th minute of play forced Dinamo B.K.'s goalkeeper Cătălin Nica to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cătălin Nica stood somewhat misplaced when Virgil Teodorescu came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 36 minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Republica Ploiești's Virgil Teodorescu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cătălin Nica. That made the score 3-0 after 41 minutes of play. Cătălin Nica took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgil Teodorescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Virgil Teodorescu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cătălin Nica having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Virgil Teodorescu to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the game, Olimpiu Zbârnea cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Cătălin Nica was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Olimpiu Zbârnea received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Cătălin Nica tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Virgil Teodorescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Iordache Leucuța fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dinamo B.K.'s protests and gave Iordache Leucuța a yellow card for diving instead. Iordache Leucuța hit a great freekick 62 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mircea Cutieru during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 65th minute, Mircea Cutieru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Olimpiu Zbârnea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Olimpiu Zbârnea in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cătălin Nica saved Dinamo B.K. from getting behind. Dinamo B.K.'s Cătălin Nica played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Virgil Teodorescu in the 77th minute of play. In the 78th minute, Olimpiu Zbârnea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cătălin Nica was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. Olimpiu Zbârnea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cătălin Nica having to interfere. After 91 minutes of play, Republica Ploiești's Virgil Teodorescu made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cătălin Nica was left in no man's land by his defense there! Iordache Leucuța was shown his second yellow card after 97 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 99 played minutes, Republica Ploiești's Ioan Ciucă shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cătălin Nica came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Republica Ploiești reached it. When the referee ended the match the Republica Ploiești players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
