When Vali Băcila fell near the penalty area in the 2nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Poli Iasi's protests and gave Vali Băcila a yellow card for diving instead. In the 6th minute, Cătălin Bacalu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Iurie Pascu managed to get in a good position for a shot. calinpff's supporters rose to their feet, but Iurie Pascu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Florin Muncelean breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of calinpff booed when Poli Iasi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eugen Novac didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Iordache Mohora showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tudor Gaiță in the 34th minute of play forced calinpff's goalkeeper Iordache Mohora to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 36th minute Petre Huidu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Florin Muncelean saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mihai Zberea during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Iurie Pascu scored 0-2 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Florin Muncelean, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cătălin Bacalu was the one to do the kick off. Iurie Pascu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Petre Huidu got free with Florin Muncelean in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Iurie Pascu in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Florin Muncelean saved Poli Iasi from getting behind. Florin Muncelean showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iurie Pascu in the 68th minute of the match. Petre Huidus short, quick shot in the 69thth minute got Florin Muncelean to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Iurie Pascu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Florin Muncelean tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Florin Muncelean made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Petre Huidu sent off a good shot on target. 84 minutes into the match, calinpff's goal looked a bit too open when Cătălin Bacalu came free, but Iordache Mohora reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Petre Huidu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Florin Muncelean having to interfere. Iurie Pascu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Petre Huidu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 96thth minute tested the skills of Florin Muncelean when he managed to save the team from getting behind.
