Spectators: 7536 (Terracing: 5653, Seating: 1733, VIP seats: 150) Gică Harhoiu made the kick off and thus started the match. Dunarea CSU Galati's Emilian Gaciu got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. It was beautiful to see Dunarea CSU Galati's Cristinel Corocăescu in action when he in the 11th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! Petrică Gherdan charged in rather forcefully in the 17th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Petrică Gherdan the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 17 played minutes FC Gloria Marasesti got a freekick which was hit by Petrică Gherdan. 18 minutes into the match, Cristinel Corocăescu sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Gigel Pantilimon threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Cristinel Corocăescu this time. FC Gloria Marasesti's Gigel Pantilimon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pompiliu Cutean in the 19th minute of play. Constantin Ghișe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Ionuț Lupșoiu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Emilian Gaciu got free with Gigel Pantilimon in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 28 minutes, Pompiliu Cutean managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dunarea CSU Galati's supporters crossed their fingers, but Pompiliu Cutean was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 32 played minutes Dunarea CSU Galati got a freekick which was hit by Petre Boian. Gigel Pantilimon made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pompiliu Cutean in the 40th minute of play. In the 47th minute Pompiliu Cutean shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigel Pantilimon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The wind increased when Pompiliu Cutean made the kick off in the second half. Emilian Gaciu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gigel Pantilimon having to interfere. Gigel Pantilimon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pompiliu Cutean, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Gică Harhoiu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ionuț Lupșoiu having to interfere. In the 61stth minute of the game Gică Harhoiu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dunarea CSU Galati's Ionuț Lupșoiu was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 63 minutes, Emilian Gaciu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Dunarea CSU Galati and the FC Gloria Marasesti players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 63 played minutes Dunarea CSU Galati got a freekick which was hit by Emilian Gaciu. After having played for 66 minutes, Gică Harhoiu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. When Emilian Gaciu was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 75 minutes had been played. Augustin Sitaru hit a great freekick 78 minutes into the match. Călin Țepeluș hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the FC Gloria Marasesti defense, Pompiliu Cutean kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gigel Pantilimon. The FC Gloria Marasesti fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gigel Pantilimon should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Dunarea CSU Galati's Vlad Şiman got a free kick in the 90th minute. Gică Harhoiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute.
