Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ernest Anghelescu in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gigel Pantilimon prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 29th minute, Cristian Bistreanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cornel Ciorobîtcă made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gică Harhoiu in the 33rd minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, FC Gloria Marasesti's goal looked a bit too open when Ernest Anghelescu came free, but Gigel Pantilimon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernest Anghelescu in the 38th minute of play forced FC Gloria Marasesti's goalkeeper Gigel Pantilimon to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Bistreanu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 43 minutes, Ernest Anghelescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Asu Unirea's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ernest Anghelescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gică Harhoiu to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute Ernest Anghelescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gigel Pantilimon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Asu Unirea's Mihăiţă Gorcea couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 58th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for FC Gloria Marasesti. Cristian Bistreanu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Gigel Pantilimon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Niculae Petrin charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Niculae Petrin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Niculae Petrin hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Asu Unirea's Mihăiţă Gorcea got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Gică Harhoiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 75 played minutes Asu Unirea got a freekick which was hit by Gavril Roşca. If Cristian Bistreanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 79 minutes into the game, Asu Unirea's Ernest Anghelescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gigel Pantilimon made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. Gavril Roşca kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the match, FC Gloria Marasesti's Gică Harhoiu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cornel Ciorobîtcă narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Cornel Ciorobîtcă didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gică Harhoiu went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Constantin Ghișe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Cornel Ciorobîtcă tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Augustin Sitaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Constantin Ghișe struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Cornel Ciorobîtcă didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Gloria Marasesti. The FC Gloria Marasesti supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Asu Unirea's performance. The match ended with a win for Asu Unirea.
