Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. After a defensive mix-up in Dunarea CSU Galati's zone, Iordache Cernescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ionuț Lupșoiu came out of the goal and Iordache Cernescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 14th minute, Emilian Gaciu made a precise shot to the right of Emilian Muncelean. Galesul's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Ionuț Lupșoiu made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Iordache Cernescu sent off a good shot on target. After 22 played minutes Galesul got a freekick which was hit by Edgar Puișoru. The supporters of Dunarea CSU Galati booed when Galesul was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Damian Toader didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Pompiliu Cutean had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Șerban Taşcu stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Emilian Gaciu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Dunarea CSU Galati's supporters rose to their feet, but Emilian Gaciu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Emilian Muncelean breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edgar Puișoru was shown his second yellow card after 64 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After a rather tough play, Galesul's Edgar Puișoru got a free kick in the 65th minute. Iordache Cernescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Ionuț Lupșoiu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
