In the 2nd minute, Gică Encuțoiu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mircea Joja in the 7th minute of play forced FC Tg-Mureș's goalkeeper Ovidiu Oblemenco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13th match minute, FC Tg-Mureș was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gică Encuțoiu to maneuver through the defense. In the 16th minute Mircea Joja shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ovidiu Oblemenco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Mircea Joja dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ovidiu Oblemenco, 1-0. Ovidiu Oblemenco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cornel Condeescu in the 32nd minute. Cornel Condeescu took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ovidiu Oblemenco. Ovidiu Oblemenco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Francisc Şandru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Mircea Joja had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Augustin Ispirescu to strike the kick off in the second half. Mircea Joja received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Ovidiu Oblemenco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Francisc Şandru came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the FC Tg-Mureș fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisc Şandru couldn't finish the play. If Francisc Şandru had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Augustin Ispirescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Augustin Ispirescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 88th minute Cătălin Stoicescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ovidiu Oblemenco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Cornel Condeescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fc. Botosani's supporters rose to their feet, but Cornel Condeescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ovidiu Oblemenco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ovidiu Oblemenco didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mircea Joja went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Fc. Botosani's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
