Petrolul Berca's Nechifor Horodincă played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anton Negru in the 9th minute of play. 10 minutes into the game, FC Baia Mare's Laurențiu Mercescu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nechifor Horodincă made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Nechifor Horodincă made an important save on a dangerous shot by Laurențiu Mercescu in the 13th minute. 16 minutes into the match, FC Baia Mare's goal looked a bit too open when Mihăiţă Bărbulescu came free, but Bogdan Teodor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Petrolul Berca's Marius Craia got a free kick in the 18th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Costel Ciocan in the 24th minute of play forced FC Baia Mare's goalkeeper Bogdan Teodor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Laurențiu Mercescu struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Nechifor Horodincă didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Baia Mare. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Laurențiu Mercescu couldn't finish the play. In the 64th minute Anton Negru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nechifor Horodincă saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 67th minute, Laurențiu Mercescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nechifor Horodincă came out of the goal in the 69th minute to try and stop a shot by FC Baia Mare's Anton Negru. But to his dismay, Anton Negru quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Anton Negru blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nechifor Horodincă having to make a save. 75 minutes into the match, FC Baia Mare's goalkeeper Bogdan Teodor had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mihăiţă Bărbulescu. The FC Baia Mare fans' excitement grew in the 77th match minute when FC Baia Mare's Laurențiu Mercescu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 81st minute Laurențiu Mercescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nechifor Horodincă saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC Baia Mare's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
