The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ion Văduvescu hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. In the 10th minute, Rareș Negrescu fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Emilian Oardă, passed just outside the right post. Dumitru Encescu's late challenge caught a Creteni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dumitru Encescu helped the player get up and apologised. Dumitru Encescu hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. The supporters of FCSB Alexandria booed when Creteni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flavius Vintilescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Flavius Vintilescu in the 20th minute of play forced FCSB Alexandria's goalkeeper Vlad Dărăscu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vlad Dărăscu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Iurie Panciu went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Rareș Negrescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 38 played minutes FCSB Alexandria got a freekick which was hit by Alexandru Ivașcu. Vlad Dărăscu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iurie Panciu in the 41st minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Iustin Enișteanu made the kick off in the second half. In the 59th minute, Creteni's Iurie Panciu ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Vlad Dărăscu. Vlad Dărăscu yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-2. After a rather tough play, FCSB Alexandria's Dragoş Năsturel got a free kick in the 66th minute. Creteni's Șerban Volosin got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the FCSB Alexandria defense, Flavius Vintilescu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vlad Dărăscu. The FCSB Alexandria fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vlad Dărăscu should have stopped the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Iurie Panciu in the 77th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Vlad Dărăscu saved FCSB Alexandria from getting behind. Flavius Vintilescu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, FCSB Alexandria's Dumitru Encescu got a free kick in the 81st minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Flavius Vintilescu got free with Vlad Dărăscu in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Iurie Panciu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Vlad Dărăscu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
