But to his dismay, Valeriu Ciurea quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Robert Caragea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eliodor Macovei having to interfere. Gelu Madgearu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eliodor Macovei read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Frasinetul AS's zone, Virgil Alexandrescu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ioan Udroiu came out of the goal and Virgil Alexandrescu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gelu Madgearu to make the kick off. Virgil Alexandrescu struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Ioan Udroiu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FCM Bacau.
