Niculae Doman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 16th minute of the match, but Cazimir Hulubei made a huge save. When F.C. F.C. Lupeni's Șerban Lăzăroiu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save F.C. Lupeni from getting a goal against them. Niculae Doman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Cazimir Hulubei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lupeni's Șerban Lăzăroiu got control of the ball when Sebastian Zbârnea tried to sneak it across the goal line. AC Milan's Sebastian Zbârnea got a good chance for a goal in the 78th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 89 minutes, Felix Mihăescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. F.C. Lupeni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Felix Mihăescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cazimir Hulubei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niculae Doman in the 91st minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched AC Milan eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
